Project 2 'Foreground' 26/10/12

This project focuses on the concept of FOREGROUND and looks at more site elements for observation and recording. Once again this project was develeloped on site at Greenhithe. This was a very exciting project as you had to be very imaginative. These were our tasks.
Task 1
-Photograph 5 objects which are in the same color range.

 TASK 2
-Collect a series of found objects/or cast a series of objects using casting plaster.
I collected many things i mostly found on shore near the river.I found very unique structures flint rock, many sea shells, glass, and many other things that were mainly rubbish that had been washed up onto the land.
 Task 3
-Present all task elements(photographs, objects, rubbings) in a way that explains or describes a narrative /a story and uses concept of juxtaposition to emphasize it.You will have TWO minutes to present your work.

- This was a very exciting task though in the beginning I had no idea where i was going to start or finish.Once I collected all of my items I struggled on creating a story to match not only my objects but my pictures as well. After many thinking I put together a story Im very pleassed with.

This is a picture of the final project.
.
My story was titled ' The Sculptor of Toms Life' its was a story showing the life and characteristics of Tom. Tom was born in London back in 1901. His dream was to become a Landscape Architect, that's why the sculptor is in a shape of a tree.He became a Rail Engineer that's why i used a piece of a train to sculpture the tree.He was English so he loved tea, so i added a piece of a tea cup,he also enjoyed smoking and collected lighters,so there's a lighter on the tree as well. He became very successful through his years doing his profession, that's why  I put a screw driver which indicates engineering on the top of the tree. At the end of my story people have imagined that his success and money was the cause of his death.Tom was poisoned by some kind of natural element and he died slowly and painfully.( the 5 pictures i took indicate his death, the pictures are 5 different poisonings people supposed lead to his death. They are pictures of mushrooms, moss, and berries)

Description to our Tasks for Project ONE 'Background' 12/10/12

This is the first project I had to do for my Landscape Basic Design course.Primarily this was an introduction to the site named Greenhithe which is near River Thames. Basically what we had to do was while we were on site at Greenhithe was to mainly collect all of our thoughts and first impressions of  the site.As my first task i started off by sketching 5 different panoramas of the site . My second task was to photograph 5 details that most interest me using a traditional camera not a digital one!!! My third and final task was the one everyone thought was going to be very simple but it wasn't. What we had to do was sit anywhere and close our eyes for 2-3 minutes and concentrate on the sounds, once we opened our eyes we had to draw the sounds as quickly and freely as possible. For me task 3 was the hardest because its very difficult to draw what you hear, imagine having to draw the sound of wind or even the sound of traffic. It was also a difficult task because as the day was coming to an end i was very cold, cranky, and i was hungry. LOL :) Hope you all enjoy the pictures Ive posted feel free to comment on them :)
